Chaper One

Chapter One,
After reading chapter one, I can relate to being a dinosaur in the computer generation. I started simply with pencil and books, a movie would be on reels and television was limited to three stations. You can really understand how the student who has not gotten the basics feels. It’s a constant struggle to keep your head above water. I began 18 years ago learning the computer and have attended many collage classes, probing my way through three years of Photoshop. Which brings me to just how important it is to play and understand before you teach, it was that learning process that brought me from trying to catch up with what students are learning and doing to teaching students a new understanding of the computer.
So here I am slowly slipping behind understanding wikis and blogs and it’s not just about learning, it’s knowing the value for the student vs. the worry about the content and giving students too much access. Then having to worry were they will go with that information on their own. We are faced with learning and teaching a whole new set of rules to worry about. Hopefully being a step before instead of behind will allow us to protect them.
